Over two years of long distance and the wait is finally over! Words cannot express the joy and overwhelm I felt when I laid eyes on him from across the airport as I wheeled my cart through the arrivals gate. I will also admit that I watched hundreds of "couples reuniting" videos on YouTube in the weeks that lead up to this moment.
The feeling is so surreal, having only seen Ahmed through a screen for the last two years, and now standing in front of him in the flesh where I see how tall he is, what shoes he is wearing, every expression and movement in real time, I can smell what cologne he is wearing, and I can reach out and touch him now. It's all such a surreal experience.
So now, this is where our next chapter begins, a chapter where we can take our steps together, and every experience can exist as it is rather than being just a retelling through snapchat or over the phone. I am sooooooo excited for what lays ahead, and what opportunities I have coming my way, and I am so lucky I get to share all of this with you through first hand experience.
I hope to be able to inspire readers that true love and long distance relationships can work, that open mindedness can take you far and be so rewarding, and that hard work pays off.
